Leipzig starts training

RB Leipzig started team training on Wednesday. Coach Julian Nagelsmann gathered the players of the Champions League quarter-finalist at 2:30 p.m. on the club grounds on Cottaweg for the first joint session on the lawn. On Monday and Tuesday, the mandatory diagnostic and performance tests were initially on the schedule.

“The boys were really up for it, were very fresh and lively and made a good impression,” said Nagelsmann afterwards: “Of course not every pass has always found the right customer, but it was still a very good start to the training session.”

Also there was the three-time international Benjamin Henrichs, who is on loan from the French first division club AS Monaco. “We have already seen that he brings in a good element for us,” said Nagelsmann.

The South Korean newcomer Hee-Chan Hwang was missing. The attacker is currently in his home country to clarify formalities with his passport. The struggling top performers Marcel Halstenberg and Marcel Sabitzer were also not among them.

For RB Leipzig, the 2019/20 season is not over yet. In the finals of the premier class in Lisbon, the Saxons will meet Atlético Madrid in the quarterfinals on August 13th.

Krösche: “Do some calculations”

“We are all looking forward to the Champions League. We have a difficult lot, but we have a lot to do,” said RB Sport Director Markus Krösche on Wednesday in the club’s own live stream: “We have a very, very good team that showed has how dominant she can appear in the Champions League. Anything is possible in one game. It’s two games to the final. ”

A training camp is not planned in preparation for the Champions League. On July 30, RB welcomes VfL Wolfsburg to a preparatory game.
