The nine-time world champion in road motorcycle racing Valentino Rossi will miss the next Grand Prix of Teruel due to coronavirus infection in addition to the current Grand Prix of Aragon, which will take place again in a week in Alcañiz, Spain. The Yamaha factory team will not replace a Italian veteran.

Forty-one-year-old Rossi reported his positive test for covid-19 on Thursday. He took refuge at home in Italy in isolation, which must last 10 days, so he will not be able to catch another World Championship race in Aragon. If he has a negative test result, he will be able to return to the series on November 6-8 in Valencia.

Yamaha does not use Lorenzo

Rossi could theoretically be replaced by Yamaha test driver and another former champion Jorge Lorenzo, but the team decided to focus only on supporting his driver Maverick Viñales.

The famous Rossi did not finish the last three MotoGP races in his farewell season with the Yamaha factory team and is thirteenth in the series.
