BUENOS AIRES (Sputnik) – Argentine authorities announced the reactivation of regular passenger transport after a seven-month pandemic caused by COVID-19, a disease caused by the coronavirus, at a press conference.
“From now on, domestic flights, micros (buses) and long-distance trains are allowed,” said Transport Minister Mario Meoni.
The activities had been prohibited by decree of President Alberto Fernández in March, but in the last Decree of Necessity and Urgency these prohibitions were exempted.
The services will be enabled between Thursday 15 and Friday 16, when both resolutions are approved.
“Everything is ready so that we can happily resume connectivity in Argentina,” the minister celebrated.
Meoni indicated that the frequencies that will be opened will be those indicated by the demands, but taking into account the local health situation of each of the regions.
Those authorized to travel are those who are exempt from mandatory quarantine and / or those who need to travel for health reasons.
Before the pandemic, and only from the City of Buenos Aires, some 2,700 services departed daily.
