The Puerto Rican model, actress and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres undressed for the #GetNaked (# Desnúdate) campaign, launched by the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF). Its objective was to create awareness in society of this type of skin cancer, which gives no quarter to anyone.

Miss Universe 1993, who suffered stage 3 melanoma, published the result of this collaboration on his Instagram account. In this way, Torres wanted to show with his own example how important it is to carry out a monthly exam of the skin of the body and how this simple habit can help save many lives.

“Melanoma does not discriminate based on age, race or gender, everyone is at risk for it!” The celebrity wrote.

Torres publicly announced that he suffered from skin cancer almost two years ago. His bravery caused a phenomenon that later came to be known among dermatologists as the dayanara effect. Inspired by the actress, many people went to see their doctors for skin exams. The executive director of MRF, Kyleigh LiPira, said that her body admires Dayanara’s commitment to raising awareness among millions of people around the world that they would be wrong to think “that they were not at risk.”
“By sharing your story through the #GetNaked campaign, you will help to end the dangerous myth that melanoma only affects older or fair-skinned people, when the reality is that it does not discriminate by age, race or gender: everyone is at risk, “LiPira said, quoted by the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
Torres, like many other patients who were diagnosed with melanoma, did not care about a new mole on his body. The woman it took seven years in going to see your doctor. It was then that he learned that the mark behind his right leg was melanoma and by that time it was in its “metastatic” form.

Dayanara had surgery which included his leg, knee and thigh, as well as requiring 77 stitching points. After a year, the actress had radiation treatments every three weeks to make a full recovery from skin cancer. All this rehabilitation left her exhausted.
