Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for YES) plans to test the covid-19. He said on Tuesday that testing was likely to begin in two weeks. The pilot project should start in the Uherské Hradiště region, however, the mayor of Uherské Hradiště Stanislav Blaha (ODS) is critical of this step and complains about poor communication from the ministry. This upset the given disease situation in the Prymulu region. “If Uherské Hradiště thinks it can handle the situation on its own, we don’t have to get involved,” he said.

“We do not want to burden hospitals that are in the acute phase with this testing,” the minister added earlier information that the pilot project would begin in the Uherské Hradiště region. This region has the highest population growth and the hospital has more than a hundred infected.

Mayor Stanislav Blaha criticized that the city had no information about the ministry’s intention. “We read it on Twitter. It is not happy when he releases such information without giving details of how it should all go, who will provide it, “Blaha told reporters on Friday. According to him, a number of experts, including representatives of general practitioners, distanced themselves from the plan at a meeting at the regional hygiene station.

“People in the Uherské Hradiště district do not deserve to be a kind of guinea pig in the laboratory of Minister Prymula,” said Blaha. He added that he personally has nothing against testing a sample of the population, but if the testing is to be general, but also voluntary, it lacks logic. “People want clear information so they know what they’re up to,” he said.

Roman Prymula said on Twitter on Saturday that he was surprised by the mayor’s reaction. “If there was an experiment, it was various festivities that took place in the region and that caused a huge increase. We are in a situation where we want to help the regions that have the biggest problems. Testing is definitely not an experiment. If Uherské Hradiště thinks that it can handle the situation on its own, we do not have to get involved, “the minister responded on the social network.

According to the mayor, neither the governor nor he, as the mayor of the district town, was acquainted with the details. “I did not criticize the actual testing itself. I criticized the non-communication on the part of the Minister. People in the Uherské Hradiště district are tense and under enormous pressure and deserve clear and comprehensible communication. In this situation, we can read about such an extensive measure from the Minister’s Twitter, “he told the daily Echo24.

“At a meeting convened on Friday by the director of regional hygiene, all experts wondered how such a large-scale event should be staffed. Representatives of general practitioners and pediatricians, who allegedly should provide the testing, also disagreed in principle, “Blaha responds.

At the same time, in response to the video of the Minister of Health, it is not clear to him which actions Prymula is talking about in the video. “What are the events at which the valid measures of the Minister of Health were not observed? And did the mayors have the opportunity to cancel events that were not organized by cities and municipalities? I would really like a specific answer, “says the mayor.

In a speech to the nation on Tuesday, the minister said that testing would be by means of antigen tests with a result within 15 minutes. “These tests are fast, cheap and easy. If we could secure them, testing would be free for all citizens, “he said at the time. According to him, if the nationwide testing succeeds, the Czechia will obtain valuable data on the spread of the virus and a significantly more targeted quarantine system will be set up. Similarly, it is being tested across the board in South Korea, Denmark and Liechtenstein, for example.

Slovakia is also planning comprehensive testing

Slovakia plans to test all inhabitants for coronavirus, probably with the exception of children under ten years of age. However, it has not yet been decided whether the test will be mandatory. This follows from Saturday’s statement by Prime Minister Igor Matovic. In the most risky districts, free testing should take place next weekend, in other regions in two weeks, ie on Dušičky. Subsequently, the tests should be repeated once. Slovakia, with a population of 5 million, has recently recorded record increases in infections, with 1968 more coronavirus infections in the last day.

“It will be an operation that Slovakia has not experienced. If we decide that it should be mandatory testing, we must change the law, “said Matovič. Positively tested would then remain in the domestic quarantine. The authorities will probably publish more information on area testing in the coming days.
