MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed in a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan the hope that Ankara would contribute to a de-escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Kremlin reported.

The conversation of the two leaders was held by Turkish initiative.

“The hope was expressed that Turkey as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group will contribute constructively to a de-escalation of the conflict” in Karabakh, the Kremlin said in a press release.

The Russian president was also “concerned about the participation of Middle Eastern fighters in military actions” in the area.

Production of vaccines against COVID-19

In addition, Putin and Erdogan discussed possible cooperation in the development and production of vaccines against COVID-19, the Kremlin revealed in a press release.

According to the statement, the dialogue showed that “there is a mutual interest in collaborating in the fight against coronavirus, including cooperation in the development and production of vaccines.”
