Rins winner Alcaniza, Alex Marquez again second

For Rins, this is his first win of the 2020 season, and he has already become the eighth different winner in ten races this year. The younger brother drove to second place in the second consecutive race due to the injury of the absent world champion Marco Marquez.

Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha SRT) was only 18th this time and lost the lead in the WC. He is now second with 115 points, and Mir took the lead with 121 points with today’s third place.

Italian veteran Valentino Rossi did not take part in the race in Spain; the Yamaha racer announced a few days ago that he tested positive for the new coronavirus and did not travel to the race, but will also miss the next one in a week, when Alcaniz will host another test for the Teruel GP.

Another tense race

In the elite class, the racers staged another tense race and the decision on the title of champion is no closer, after all, even more condensed.

Marc Marquez is missing, but in his absence the top has widened and it is almost impossible to predict a winner. There are also big fluctuations, Quartararo, who was the only one to win more than one race this year, was left without points this time, and the winner of the previous race in Le Mans, Danilo Petrucci, was only 15 today.

In the fight for the top, Vinales looked good from the start. This time the only factory Yamaha racer (Rossi was missing, but he won’t be there next week) started well from second place and took the lead, while Quartararo soon started to slide down after a solid start and finally dropped out of the top 15 after tire problems. .

But they didn’t deal with his problems at the top. When Vinales had to hand over the lead to fast Suzuki and the younger Marquez, it was quickly clear that he would not be in the fight for victory today. This meant that one of the racers, who have not yet reached the top of the winning podium this year, will celebrate.

Change in total SP

Soon, Mir also had to concede victory to Marquez, and in the last rounds he was satisfied with third place, which allowed him to jump to the top of the standings due to Quarataro’s poor position. In the foreground, however, everyone was waiting for Marquez’s attack. He tried twice but didn’t have the right chances, once he made a minor mistake and stayed behind Rins, and in the last lap he wasn’t close enough afterwards.

It ended with Rins winning, but only with a two-tenths advantage. Marquez confidently led in second place, Mir retained third, Vinales remained in fourth, Japanese Takaaki Nakagami (Honda LCR) fifth, Quartararo’s sixth teammate Italian Franco Morbidelli, and seventh this time Ducati’s best racer Italian Andrea Dovizio.

“Amazing, amazing”

“Amazing, amazing. I was calm at the start. After a few laps I saw I could get close, I got off to a good start, but when I caught Vinales, I said to myself, you can go ahead. And I went. Great, this first place is an award for all my fans, for my family and for everyone on the team who is doing so well, ”Rins was looking forward to his first win of the season.

“Great, it’s not bad to get on the podium after 11th place. From the beginning I did my best, I had some problems with the tires, but it’s important that I’m on the podium again. I hope that I will be able to do it now and in the future , maybe next week, “the younger Marquez was happy with the new rankings just below the top.

But he was probably happy with his brother’s response as well: he was probably a little mischievous, because Alex was always labeled only as Marco Marquez’s brother, and immediately after the end he tweeted: Hello, I’m Alex Marquez’s brother.

In the WC, Mir is in first place (121), Quartararo’s zero pushed him to second (115), Vinales is third with 109, and Dovizioso finishes the four, who obviously have the most chances in the title fight, with 106 points.

“I feel great. But I stay on solid ground, I go race after race, I try to be the best I can be in every one. I’m happy for today, I had some engine problems so I wasn’t in the fight to win, but I’m glad I on the podium again, “said the new leader Mir, who has not won this season.

The next race will be next week, when Alcaniz will host another test for the Teruel GP.

Lowes best in moto2…

In the moto2 class, the Briton Sam Lowes won. Second place went to Italian Enea Bastianini and third to Spaniard Jorge Martin. The leader in the World Cup remained Bastianini, who has 155 points, but Lowes came very close to him with his second consecutive victory and is at 153 points. Third with 150 now is Italian Luca Marini, who did not finish the race today.

… In moto3 by Masia

In the moto3 class, Spaniard Jaume Masia (Honda) won ahead of South African Darryn Binder (KTM) and compatriot Raul Fernandez (KTM).

Albert Arenas (KTM), the seventh Spaniard, remained in the lead in the overall standings of the World Cup today, 13 points ahead of the Japanese Ai Ogura, who was only 14th this time.
