“This is the largest logistics operation in the modern history of the Slovak Republic. The success of the whole operation is primarily based on the willingness of people to cooperate. I ask you for responsibility in the approach to testing, “said Minister of Defense Jaroslav Naď after an extraordinary meeting of the cabinet. He added that 50,000 people from the state apparatus, including a maximum of 8,000 soldiers, will be involved in the testing.
“Lockdown is one option, honest retesting of Slovakia is another option,” said Matovič.
According to earlier information, Bratislava has already ordered 13 million so-called antigen tests at a price of approximately four euros (110 crowns) per piece. Although these are less accurate tests than the commonly used PCR tests, the result is available faster.
Slovakia has recently seen a significant increase in the number of confirmed cases infected with coronavirus. The country exceeded the limit of a thousand confirmed cases per day on October 7, and about a week later, tests revealed over 2,000 infected people for the first time.
