The actor, who starred in action movies in the 80s and 90s, Jean-Claude Van Damme, is celebrating his 60th birthday. The Belgian, who drew attention to himself with his martial arts and established himself as a champion in karate and kickboxing, was soon nicknamed Mišica from Brussels. He succeeded in the film world precisely because of the aforementioned trump cards.
It can be seen in movies like Bloody sport(1988), Kickboxer(1989), Lionheart(1990), Revenge of the twins(1991), Universal soldier(1992), A difficult goal (1993) in The guardian of time(1994). He soon became a millionaire and joined the star colleagues of that time, such as Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Steven Seagal.
Later, most of his projects ended up on DVDs instead of on movie screens. In 2008, he made a partially autobiographical film – a crime comedy drama JCVD, in which he looked into his life. In 2010, he turned down a role in the film Mercenaries, in which Stallone collected big names in action films such as Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li in Mickey Rourke. Van Damme did not want to join the project because his role seemed meaningless to him.
The actor also had a rather turbulent life, he was married five times, he even had a love affair with the singer. Kylie Minogue. Some believe that he could have achieved greater success if he had not had drug problems, which he himself justifies by being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
