MOSCOW (Sputnik) – COVID-19 antibodies last just a couple of months in a fifth of those infected, said academic Areg Totolián, direct from the Pasteur Institute of St. Petersburg.
“Approximately between 15 and 20% of those who overcome the disease lose antibodies: their immune system responds with a reduced number of antibodies that disappear without a trace in four, six or eight weeks,” Totolián said in an interview with the channel. Rossiya 1.
To date, Russia has registered around 1.4 million coronavirus infections, including 15,099 in the last 24 hours, the second highest result so far in this pandemic.
Throughout the world, more than 39.72 million cases of infection with the pathogen have been detected, including more than 1.11 million deaths and more than 27.32 million recoveries, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
