Velenje and Slovenj Gradec are again among the most beautiful and hospitable places

The final event My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable is this time due to restrictive measures in the light of the pandemic covida-19 took place in the form of a special event broadcast, in which the recipients of the titles were presented. The all-Slovenia campaign organized by the Tourist Association of Slovenia (TZS) took place under the honorary patronage of the Prime Minister Janez Janša.

This competition was attended by 37 excursion places, 39 cities, 13 tourist places, 13 health resorts, seven youth hostels, 19 camps and glampingov, 16 themed routes and Petrol service stations. An expert commission consisting of landscape painters, geographers, tourist workers, architects, ethnologists and others has been conducting the evaluation since 1. August by mid-September. Special attention was paid to the overall ecological arrangement of places and the quality of the tourist offer. “We want to ensure a quality of competition that will significantly influence and promote the sustainable development of tourism and positioned Slovenia as green, active and healthy, “ they wrote on the TZS website. Part of the assessment was again contributed by online voters.

Velenje and Slovenj Gradec celebrated for the second time in a row

Velenje celebrated in the category of major cities, followed mu is Celje, and Kranj is in third place. In the category of medium-sized towns, Ptuj and Nova Gorica ranked behind Slovenj Gradec, and among smaller towns, in addition to Cerkelj in Gorenjska, the top three also included Radlje ob Dravi and Šentjur near Celje.

Among tourist places, the first place in this year’s selection went to Bovec, followed by Radovljica and Bohinj with Bohinjska Bistrica, and among health resorts, the first place went to Laško, which was ahead of Rogaška Slatina and Podčetrtek. Among the excursion places, this time he celebrated the Mountain Tourist center Kope, follow mu Črna in Carinthia and Begunje in Gorenjska.

Online voting, meanwhile, awarded the first place for order among major cities to Celje, among health resorts in Laško and among tourist resorts in Izola.

The most beautiful town, village and market cores

The award for the most beautifully arranged city center went to Črnomelj, who mu followed by Kamnik and Slovenj Gradec, the most beautiful village center is Šmartno in Goriška brda, followed by the Gorenjska towns of Stara Fužina and Adergas, and the most beautiful market town is Črna na Koroškem, which mu followed by the upper square in Šentjur and Ribčev Laz.

The best camp is again Camp Danica in Bohinjska Bistrica, glamping but again Glamping Olimia Adria village. MCC Hostel Celje took the first place among youth hostels this year as well. The most thematic path has become the Learning Path Woodcutter by Lake Cerknica, and the best rated Petrol service station was the one on Kolodvorska Street in Koper.

The competition has been running since 1991, so next year will be the jubilee 30th selection. The TZS has already started preparations for it.
